Have you noticed an increasing interest in bone broth these days? It seems a growing number are touting the benefits of beef bone broth, especially grass-fed bone broth. Why is that, you may ask? We think it has something to do with the increased awareness across the country (and across the world, really) of our gut health, and just how much our digestive system and the food we choose to put into our bodies really does affect our overall health, wellness, and energy.
Body Fuel
Have you ever heard your gut referred to as your “second brain?” Your stomach knows what is good for your body. What you ingest as food becomes fuel for your body, and directly affects how your body (and your brain) operate. How we run on this fuel is a direct result of the quality of the fuel. Putting good quality fuel in, means our “engines” run at peak efficiency, like a high-end sports car or luxury car runs on premium gasoline. At Rafter W Ranch, we are proud of all the healthy, delicious products our healthy animals produce, and we happily provide “fuel” as well as support for our local community by offering a variety of healthy food for your healthy family from our happy, loved and well cared for animals.
Grass-fed bone broth can easily be added to your diet, if you’re not already taking advantage of all the wonderful healing properties of this awesome food. It’s more than just a food, though; beef bone broth contains lots of bio-available vitamins and nutrients that your body can easily assimilate and put to good use. Bone broth is a powerful, readily available tool that functions as food, medicine, and health supplement all in one, healing the lining of your gut, helping to fight off an oncoming cold or flu, and addressing a whole host of health issues. It can and will promote better overall health (and at a much lower cost than a visit to your doctor, to boot!).
Seasoning Ideas
Bone broth is the best base for cooking, and one of the first things you would learn how to make in kitchens around the world as a chef’s apprentice or culinary student. It is simple and easy to make, and can be seasoned in a variety of ways. Rafter W Ranch carries Hoof Wing and Fin’s great grass-fed bone broth if you need it quick, and we don’t mind at all if you add your own special spices to it once you get your hands on some. Garlic, onion, carrots, celery, parsley, sea salt, whatever you like … toss it in the pot and enjoy the savory smells that will soon permeate your kitchen and bring the family running to see what’s cooking. Or if you like, you can make your own with our wonderful soup and marrow bones! Oh, and don’t forget to add some Kerrygold butter, “the cherry on the top” before drinking!
As always, we would love to hear from you or better yet, have a visit from you to our Ranch in Simla, Colorado!
