What is Organic Chicken?

Organic Chicken comes from farms that raise chicks on organic feed and bedding from the second day of life until processing. Organic feed and bedding come from sources that used no inorganic fertilizers for the preceding 3 years. Organic chicken will not be fed any manure, animal by-products, hormones or antibiotics.

What Makes Pasture Raised Chicken Different?

In addition to the organic requirements, our pasture raised chickens have access to fresh grass, clean air, and bugs. Our chicken never get any GMO grains, soy products or corn, animal by-products, hormones or antibiotics. Rafter W Ranch chickens follow the cattle to spread out manure piles and eat fly larvae. It’s as natural as a chicken can be as birds have been following bison herds for eons.

Why Can’t They Have Corn or Soy?

Most corn and soy in the United States are genetically modified organisms, otherwise known as GMO. The biggest danger in GMO crops may be the chemicals they were designed to withstand. Repeated application of herbicides to GMO crops leads to chemical build up in the soil. We don’t feed that to our animals because we don’t want to eat it, we don’t want you to eat it either.
