Hey, everyone! After a lot of research, learning, and hard work, we have some exciting new additions here at Rafter W Ranch (I’ll give you a hint; it’s what we’ve been counting every night before our heads hit the pillow!). But seriously, we truly are looking forward to offering grass-fed/grass-finished lamb as one of our products. Lamb is enjoyed on a much larger scale in European countries than in the United States, but we’re doing our best to change this in our circle of influence. Why? Because lamb has a lot of health benefits, and it’s down right tasty!
Health Benefits
Lamb meat (if you want the technical definition) is the meat from a sheep that is under one year old. Because it is from a young sheep, the flavor will naturally be more tender and mild in flavor. The nutritional content is quite notable; just a 3 oz. portion provides nearly half of your daily value of vitamin B12, in addition to lots of iron, zinc, omega-3, and high-quality protein.
Of course we all know that lamb is in high demand during the Passover/Easter season; but there are many delicious recipes that you can try year round! Did you know that gyros are traditionally made of lamb? Try a spicy lamb curry, or have some friends over for some lamb chops on the grill!
Just as with all of the animals here at Rafter W Ranch, we are raising our lambs in a humane and comfortable environment, because we want them to be as happy and healthy as possible! Come on over and swap howdies with us and let us show you what’s new at the ranch; we’d love to see you! Lamb will be available this spring, order yours now!
